CCB sponsors the upcoming ninth Beijing International Music Festival

In 2005 CCB started sponsoring the Beijing International Music Festival. This year the bank once again joins hands with the Beijing International Music Festival Art Foundation as the chief sponsor of the event, and such a sponsorship will continue in the next four years.

Initiated in 1998, Beijing International Music Festival is a grand cultural event hosted by the Ministry of Culture and the Beijing Municipal People’s Government. Today it is one of the most famous music festivals in the world. The ninth Beijing International Music Festival will be held from October 2 to 29 and presents altogether 24 performances. By then, well-known world bands like the Ensemble Modern and BBC Symphony Orchestra will appear at the festival.

CCB, well known for its support for public welfare, is the first among the four major Chinese state-owned commercial banks completing overseas listing. Within less than 1 year after IPO, CCB has been incorporated into the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index and Hang Seng Index Constituents. It will soon become the first H share company to be incorporated into Hang Seng Index. On the list of top world banks recently issued by the Britain-based journal The Banker, CCB ranked the 11th among world banks and the first among Chinese banks. The Banker also rated CCB as the Best Chinese Bank in 2005. On the list of Top 300 Asian Banks released by Asiaweek in 2006, CCB was recognized as the bank with the “highest net interest income” and the “highest net profit”, and therefore rated as the “most profitable bank in Asia.” CCB ranked the 65th among the 2006 Fortune top 2000 global listed companies.

A CCB officer said that the sound performance of CCB is attributed to the support of its customers and the society. Therefore, while serving the national economic construction and keeping committed to improving the life of Chinese residents, CCB faithfully performs its social responsibility and enthusiastically supports the progress of education, health, culture and sports. As an active player in public welfare, CCB is making due contributions to building a harmonious society and building a bright future.

CCB’s chief sponsorship for Beijing International Music Festival is a strong evidence of the bank’s support for the progress of the cultural industry and effort of enhancing the cultural consciousness of the Chinese people. Music is a language across national boarder and the bridge of peace and friendship. Integrating western and oriental cultures, Beijing International Music Festival not only brings world-class music to the Chinese audience but also introduces the best Chinese music to the world. The event carries on the classical merits, encourages innovation and is committed to serving the audience and leading fashion, which coincides with CCB’s brand image of “innovation, service, steadiness and excellence”. And the prospects of gaining international recognition are the common pursuit of both the festival and the bank. Both sides have indicated the hope that their five year of partnership will make the Beijing International Music Festival increasingly successful and the CCB brand last as long as the classical music.

It is said that during the festival CCB will invite a number of its clients, employees and investors to the scene to enjoy the world-class musical art.
