CCB advocates practicing honesty, thrift and cleanness

 

In the process of the shareholding reform, CCB gives top priority to clean and honest management construction and highlights a sound work style and corporate culture. In April last year when the new Party Committee Secretary and Chairman took office, the bank raised six supplementary rules on clean and honest business practice governing Party organizations at various levels and Party members throughout the bank, including simplifying official receptions and prohibiting accepting gifts, abusing power for personal gains or cronyism, which is welcomed by all the staffs of the bank and effectively helps the bank build a sound corporate image and ensure the success of IPO and business expansion. In response to the new situations after the IPO and to consolidate the existing achievements, the Party Committee of the bank recently once again requires to simplify internal receptions, insist on clean business practice, improve the work style of the Party Committee and the bank and practice honesty, thrift and cleanness.

 

It is said that the requirement of the Party Committee on simplifying internal receptions covers the following aspects. First, Party Committees at all levels, especially the Party leaders are required to better understand the rules on internal receptions, start from the most ordinary work, set themselves an example to others, refrain from formalism or comparing unrealistically and resist extravagance and waste; second, rules on traveling with light luggage and few attendants and prohibiting receiving from or sending superior leaders to the airport should be followed strictly and no bank staff or hotel staff shall line up to welcome or send the leaders; third, extravagance and waste in receiving superior leaders should be opposed and it is prohibited to take the opportunity to launch projects that have nothing to do with the inspection of the leaders such as upgrading or decorating hotels; fourth, it is prohibited to put fruit, flower, cigarette or other unrelated objects in the conference room when holding internal meetings or workshops; fifth, it is prohibited to send souvenir and native products in whatever name and prepare the personal health accessories which have already been prepared by the hotel during various meetings; six, it is prohibited to send gifts, bonus and native products to superior agencies or staffs in whatever form or name; seven, when receiving superior officials, the number of accompanying personnel and cars should be strictly controlled. When inspecting or conducting study in lower-level agencies, officials are required to have meal at where they live or at the staff dining hall. The CCB Party Committee requires all the departments to carefully implement the rules and develop their own ones. The headquarters will circulate a notice of criticism to those branches which fail to implement the rules.

 

Guo Shuqing, CCB Party Committee Secretary and Chairman said that the banking industry has special risks and must be managed with extremely prudent and sophisticated system. Strict discipline must be highlighted. Each action of the officials and staffs of the financial institutions reflects the work style of the Party. Officials of the Central Party Committee and the State Council put high expectation on us and the public pays high attention to us. In particular, CCB has got listed in Hong Kong, and our domestic and overseas investors and the public are concerned about how the bank starts from ordinary work to foster a down-to-earth work style, practice thrift, advance the rapid and healthy business growth and bring about sound return to the investors. We must stand side by side with the Party and the people as well as the investors to make decisions and faithfully fulfill our lofty duty in a bid to building CCB into a leading international commercial bank.
