Published time: 2008-09-18

In the morning of September 9, China Construction Bank (CCB) Beijing Branch received a disabled foreign client. The customer service manager immediately led the client to the green Olympic counter. Wearing a bright smile on his face, the teller spoke with perfect English, “Welcome to Beijing, it is my pleasure to serve you.” While the client was chatting with the manager, the teller has finished the task. The client left with this remark, “your efficiency and passion is among the first class in the world. Thank you for everything you’ve done for Paralympics. I will remember all your smiles.”

CCB strives to enhance its service level and management ability to provide the best services and first class financial services for the Paralympics. We have modified our services in a variety of areas including the website system, production securities, operation environment, hardware enhancement, operation workflow, services manner and emergency plans, to fulfill the 70 special services required by the Paralympics Committee.

CCB also strengthened the “barrier-free” program to better facilitate the Paralympics. We modified the multi-language services of 95533. Starting from September 1 until September 19, 95533 will continue to provide support for the five languages which include Japanese, Korean, French, Russian and English. Afterwards, 95533 service centre will also provide its English language services in long-term.

Sign language is another highlight for the “barrier-free” program. The training centre of CCB’s Beijing Branch hired a professional in sign language to teach staff within the district. Teaching CDs are also available at the branches.

Branch reconstruction and the modification of “barrier-free” program implemented recently have obtained significant results. CCB has reconstructed over 8,000 branches, accounted for 60% of the total number of branches, to enhance its varieties of financial services. To fulfill the special request of the Olympics City, CCB started to implement the “smooth path policy” of “barrier-free” program in Beijing district 5 years ago. Currently, 264 standard access ramps for the disabled have been equipped at different branches.

Aiming at enhancing the safeguard system for self-banking services machines, CCB has enhanced the languages for all operation guides of self-banking services machines into both Chinese and English. The Bank also added a code for each machines to improve the efficiency when addressing our clients’ feedback.

During the Paralympics, all reconstructed branches are equipped with multimedia enquiry system and more self-banking services machines which could manage all non-cash services (with the exception of securities services). The advancement greatly reduced the number of queues.

CCB Beijing Branch has organized “young volunteers program” to provide cordial services for all athletes, coaches and adjudicators of the Paralympics Games. On September 7, adjudicators of volleyball and goalball from countries such as Egypt and Finland came to CCB for an exchange of Renminbi and received enthusiastic services. They wrote out their comment “Thank you China” in Chinese.  During the Games, CCB Qingdao Branches enhanced their foreign exchange services by providing exchanges of up to 12 currencies. The branches also added 40 more self-banking services machines, making a total of 386. All the machines in Shinan and Laoshan districts, which are located near the Olympics Sailing Games, are fully utilized. In addition, nearly 50 staff of the branch were trained with basic sign language to provide daily banking services in the language. Branches surrounding the Olympic Sailing Game site were equipped with facilities to serve the disabled. To eliminate discrepancies, all the notices and posters were designed and produced in a single site. The branch also published promotion pamphlets to advertise its operations and financial services, printed in both Chinese and English. The pamphlets included the location of all the branches and self-banking services machines within the city. An operation guide for the bank’s foreign exchange products are also included.

While we are enjoying the excitement of Paralympics Games, CCB is bringing together all Paralympics athletes and all the disabled customers in the country and beyond with its passion and love as well as bridging with friendships.
